Sambourne

We took a walk around the village footpaths a week or so ago. It was a glorious sunny day and the butterflies were enjoying it. The  Tortoiseshells and Skippers had just started to appear. The bramble was in blossom and was a big attraction for Butterflies, Hoverflies and Bees.

Small Tortoiseshell - Aglais urticae

Large Skipper - Ochlodes venata

Hoverfly - Chrysotoxum cautum
Thought this was a wasp when it first came into view but it is a very good wasp mimic

Hoverfly - Syrphus ribesii
Not the best view of the hoverfly but I just like the overall effect and the strong colours
